FIRST US TOP 20 FINISH FOR JAMES BYRNE

Banchory's James Byrne achieved his first top-20 finish on the American college golf circuit with rounds of 73, 69 and 68 for a three-under-par total of 210 in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational at The Meadow Club, Fairfax in California.
Byrne, a freshman student at Arizona State University, improved from joint 41st in a field of 81 to tied 20th with his final round.
Lewis Kirton from Oldmeldrum, a second-year student at the University of Louisville, Kentucky shot his lowest round so far in America - a six-under-par 65 - but it was sandwiched between two moderate rounds of 75 and 73. He finished on level par 213 in a share of 38th place.
Kirton's team-mate Daryl Fathauer won with a 13-under-par total of 200, made up of 61, 67 and 72.

Meanwhile former British boys champion Jordan Findlay from Fraserburgh, in his third year at East Tennessee State, finished joint 54th in a field of 60 for the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate tournament at Old Overton Country Club, Birmingham in Alabama.
Jordon scored 75, 74 and 74 for a total of 10-over-par 223. Team-mate Seamus Power from Waterford tied for victory with Mark Harrell (Alabama) on 15-under-par 198 with scores of 65, 66 and 67.
Power's total broke Rhys Davies' college 54-hole record.
