McBAIN TO WIN ROYAL DORNOCH
YOUNG PROS' MASTERS

With a closing round of two-under-par 68, Steven Duncan (Balbirnie Park) made up three shots over local young professional, Greg McBain, to win the Royal Dornoch Young Professionals Masters Championship at a sunny Royal Dornoch.
McBain (23), in his first profesional tournament,took the first-round lead after a 68, a score that should have been lower but for a double bogey 6 at the final hole where he drove into the bushes.
The rookie pro still held his two-shot advantage after nine holes of the second round, he and Duncan both matching the outward par of 35.
Duncan birdied the first and third inward holes to draw level and after both birdied the 15th the crunch came over the final three holes.
From three putts on the the 16th and a visit to a bunker from the tee at the 17th, McBain bogeyed both and went behind for the first time. Although he did finish with a par at the 18th, Duncan safely parred the final three holes to come home in 33 for a 68 against McBain's 71 to win the £720 first prize by one shot - 138 to 139. McBain earned £552.
Alastair Love (Charlton) improved by 13 shots on his first round 78 to leap into third place on 143 (78 65) for which he received cheque for £432.
Graham Fox (East Kilbride), with a joint fourth place finish, won the Young Profesionals' Order of Merit for the season with Graham Lornie (Kings Links) in second place and Jonnie Cliff (Murrayfield) third.
