FAIRMONT ST ANDREWS TO HOST PGA EUROPRO
TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP FROM OCT 31 to NOV 2

THE 2007 PGA EuroPro Tour Championship will be held at the prestigious Fairmont St Andrews venue (formerly known as St Andrews Bay).
This is the final event of the season, a campaign which has seen the best young golf professionals play in 14 tough, competitive and exciting tournaments around Britain and Ireland.
Only the top 60 in the Order of Merit will be playing on the Torrance Course in the three-day event that starts on Wednesday, October 31 and ends on Friday, November 2.
There is no cut so each player will play three rounds and there is €100,000 in prize money for the players to battle for.
Another huge incentive for each of the players is that they will be vying to secure Challenge Tour cards for the 2008 campaign.
Those players that are in the top five in the Order of Merit after the Tour Championships will qualify to play at the next level in golf and move a step closer to playing on the main European Tour.
Order of Merit leader Graeme Clark has already guaranteed himself a place in the top five after three tour event victories, while Colm Moriarty, currently third in the rankings, has also already earned a 2008 Challenge Tour.
He won a Challenge Tour competition earlier this year and if he remains inside the leading five on the EuroPro Tour rankings, then the sixth player will also get a 2008 Challenge Tour card.
Charles Head, general manager at Fairmont St Andrews, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to host the prestigious EuroPro Tour Championship for 2007.
“We look forward to welcoming some of Europe’s finest emerging golfers to this historic destination, to show their mettle on the 2010 Open Qualifying Course, 'The Torrance'.
“Hosting this event, in partnership with the EuroPro Tour, is certainly in alignment with our key objective of partnering with the finest names in golf, and supporting golf development.
“We look forward to welcoming these young talents to St Andrews.”
Danny Nickless, operations manager of the EuroPro Tour, believed that hosting an event at Fairmont St Andrews was a fitting way to end an excellent campaign.
He added: “The hotel and facilities are world class and we are very fortunate that St Andrews Bay have agreed to stage our flagship event this year.
“Only the top 60 will compete in the tournament so the cream of the tour will travel to the home of golf. The PGA EuroPro Tour has enjoyed its most successful year to date and this will be a great way to end the year.”
There will be a two-day Pro-Am before the main event and anyone wishing to take part should send an e-mail to danny.nickless@matchroom.com
