3rd VOLVO AMATEUR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

The 3rd Bulgarian Amateur Open Championship took place at St. Sofia Golf Club & Spa on the weekend of the 28th, 29th and 30th of September 2007.
Twenty-five golfers from 10 different countries participated in this year’s event showing how this tournament is going from strength to strength every year.
Under the guidance of Seth Underwood, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Golf Association, the tournament was held to a professional and international standard.

Chief executives of the golfing unions of Scotland, England and Wales made the trip as did the president of the Cyprus Golf Federation.

Final results (tournament reduced to two rounds because of bad weather) were:
Winner of the Men’s Bulgarian Amateur Championship for 2007 was David Ginn of the UK on +2 (over par).
Second was Thomas King (UK) on +8.
Third was Daniel Jeffries (UK) on +10.
Winner of the Ladies Bulgarian Amateur Championship for 2007 was Iliana Dimitrova (BUL).
Winner in the Plate Championships was Grigori Grigorov (BUL).
Second was Oleg Chernev (BUL), and third was Nikola Kiurkchiev (BUL).
The overall Nett prize was shared by Polina Girginova (BUL) and Stefan Kralchev (BUL).
A tremendous tournament and a wonderful evening party celebrating the President of the BGA followed to make this a truly memorable day and night.
