WALLACE BOOTH DOUBLE
PROPELS HIM INTO SGU
ORDER OF MERIT LEAD
Big-margin victories in the Tennant Cup and then last weekend’s Cameron Corbett Vase have propelled Wallace Booth to the top of the Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit.
Wallace, pictured right, won at Glasgow Killermont (Tennant Cup) by five strokes and by seven shots at Haggs Castle on Sunday.
The Comrie player, who will be 22 on July 24, now has 475.50pt, giving him a clear lead from double Scottish champion, Kevin McAlpine (Alyth) on 458pt with Walker Cup man Lloyd Saltman (Craigielaw), 440pt, the only other player over the 400pt mark.
Booth recently graduated with honours at the end of a four-year business management degree course at Augusta State University, having played on the American college golf circuit for four seasons.
He won the Scottish Under-16 boys’ stroke-play championship in 2000 and the Scottish youths championship in 2004. He made his debut for the Scotland men’s international team against France in 2003.
