Douglas Gillespie Scottish Under-16 boys' stroke-play

JAMIE LYNCH LETS CHANCE OF BIG LEAD
SLIP OVER LAST THREE HOLES

Jamie Lynch from Falkirk looked set to spreadeagle the field when he was four under par with just three holes to play in the first round of the Douglas Gillespie Scottish Under-16 boys’ open stroke-play championship at Brunston Castle Golf Club, Ayrshire today (Tuesday).
Jamie had bogeyed only the sixth as he birdied the second, ninth, 10th, 14th and 15th
Then Lynch stumbled at the 16th and 18th with bogeys at each for halves of 35 and a two-under-par round of 70.
Without the late bogeys, the Falkirk youngster was heading for a lead of at least three shots. As it is he has left the door open for his challengers with an advantage of only one stroke over Perth’s Ian Redford (King James VI).
Redford had a bad start with bogeys at the third, fifth and eighth to be out in three-over-par 39. Then Ian rattled off three birdies in a row from the 10th and added a fourth, at the 15th, on his way to an inward half of 32.
In third place on 73 is Andrew McLachlan from Eastwood.
