FIFE STUDENT jt 52nd IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Michael Main (Thornton), beaten finalist in the 2006 Scottish boys' match-play championship, finished joint 52nd in a field of 80 players for the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Country Club of South Carolina, Florence this week.
Main, a first-year student at Jacksonville University, Florida, had one very good round - a two-under-par 70 - on the second day over the tough, 7,101yd course. He scored 81 in the first round and 82 in the third and final round for a total of 17-over-par 233.
Zimbabwe-born Michael McGrady (Troy University) won by three strokes with scores of 71, 69 and 72 for four-under-par 212.
Jacksonville (907) finished seventh in the team event behind winners Furman (877).
