RECORD-BEATER McEWAN ONLY ONE SHOT AHEAD
GOING INTO LAST DAY OF LEVEN GOLD MEDAL
New course record-holder Steven McEwan (Caprington) followed up his nine-under-par 62 (one shot inside the old mark set by Leven Golfing Society member Euan Bullians) with a 69 for a halfway total of 11-under-par 131.
But even that very low scoring mark did not given Steven a clear lead to take into Sunday’s final 36 holes of the Standard Life Leven Gold Medal.
Former Scottish boys’ match-play champion James White, junior, well acquainted with the Levin Links through his membership of neighbouring Lundin Golf Club, is right on his tail with 65 and 67 for 132.
Steven Rennie had a hole in one at the fifth in the afternoon and Wallace Booth (Comrie), the SGU Order of Merit leader, survived the cut at 144 despite a 10 and a 9 on his scorecards of 70 and 71 for 141.
