FOTHERINGHAM SHAVES
THREE STROKES OFF
INVERNESS COURSE
RECORD WITH A 61

Forres player Bryan Fotheringham, chasing a return to the Scotland team for the men's home internationals, slashed three strokes off the Inverness Golf Club record for its Culcabock course in the North District team championship.
After a first round of two-under-par 67, Fotheringham shot an eight-under-par 61 with one eagle, eight birdies, seven pars and two bogeys. He had halves of 33 (two under par) and 28 (six under par). His inward half was made up of eight 3s and a 4.
Bryan could have hit the "magical" figure of 59 but for bogeying two par-3 holes, the second and the ninth.
Bryan's figures were:
OUT: 4-4-3-4-4-3-3-4-4-33. IN: 3-3-3-3-4-3-3-3-3-28.
Needless to say, he had the lowest individual aggregate of 10-under-par 128 but his club, Forres, could finish no higher than third on 286 behind Inverness who pipped Tain on a countback of each team's discarded scores, after they had tied on 284.
Inverness advance to the Scottish club championship grand final at Glenbervie.

LEADING TEAMS
284 Inverness ( B Thomson 70 72, D Sanderson 70 76, A L Cameron 70 72); Tain (M Ferries 71 72, J Macleod 72 73, S Fraser 75 69).
286 Forres (B Fotheringham 67 71, R McKerron 81 77, C Mackay 81 79).
