Open championship final round drama

HARRINGTON JOINS GARCIA IN LEAD

Padraig Harrington had joined long-time leader Sergio Garcia in a share of the pole position at seven under par overall in the final round of the Open championship at Carnoustie.

The Irishman was seven under after 11, the Spaniard, who had started the day at nine under par, was seven under par after 10.

Then came Andres Romero (Argentina) and Ernie Els (South Africa) on six under par. Romero had played 13 and Els 11.

Steve Stricker was sharing the next spot at five under par with R Green. Green had finished his 72 holes, Stricker had eight holes to play.

Tiger Woods was obviously not going to "do a Paul Lawrie" over the final round. Woods was "only" two under par after 16 holes.
