DOUGLAS MITCHELL (net 0 at 13th) STEALS
DEAN ROBERTSON’S STRATHAVEN THUNDER

Dean Robertson won the £1,100 top prize with a four-under-par 67 in the Strathaven Golf Club pro-am today – but it was a 15-handicap amateur, Douglas Mitchell who provided the main talking point in the clubhouse.
Douglas had a hole in one at the 153yd 13th hole – where the stroke index allowed him a shot for his team event score, which meant that Mr Mitchell had a net 0 at the hole!
No wonder that the Netherfield Stud trio of Douglas, Mark Hendry (6) and Alex Quale (10), piloted by pro Craig Imlah (Peebles), won the team prize with a score of 19-under-par 52.
Robertson had an eagle 3 at the 487yd par-5 10th and birdies at the fifth, eighth, 14th and 16th in halves of 34 (one under par) and 33 (three under par). He had bogeys at the sixth and 13th.
Colin Gillies (Kingsfield) and Peterculter’s Greig Hutcheon finished a shot behind in second place on 68.
