ALVA AND DOLLAR BOYS WIN AT HOME IN
CLACKMMAN COUNTY BOYS' LEAGUE

By HUGH HUNTER

Home advantage ruled the day in the second set of matches in the Clackmannan County Boys League. In dull conditions, the hill golf players from Alva and Dollar triumphed over the flatter course players in two exciting matches.
At Alva, the top three scratch players all won comfortably, with the best win of the evening by 12-year-old county junior champion Lawrence Allan, who raced to the turn in 31, giving him a four-hole lead which proved unassailable.
Martin Hall clinched the match for Alva by holding a two-hole lead throughout the inward nine, winning at the 17th and leaving Alva winners by four matches to two.
The match result was a bit closer at Dollar. Alloa’s top two had narrow wins over their Dollar counterparts in the first two games, but the team could only muster one more half. When the Dollar tail wagged very strongly, the result was a narrow 3-2 win for the home team with one game halved.
Dollar top the league at present with two wins although there is a very long way to go. The next matches at 4.30pm on Sunday feature Alva v Dollar and Tillicoultry v Alloa.
