JAMIESON NEEDS GOOD FINAL ROUND
TO BOOST SIZE OF HOOTERS' CHEQUE
Scott Jamieson needs to produce a spectacular final round on Sunday if he is to pick up a sizeable cheque at the conclusion of the NGA Hooters Tour's Touchstone Energy Open at Brook Valley Country Club.
The Glasgow rookie pro has had rounds of 73, 71 and 75 for three-over-par 219 over a course that measures 6,821yd with a par of 72.
Jamieson birdied the sixth and 15th in his third round but also had a double-bogey 6 at the 14th. Double bogeys at this level of competition - and the standard is at least as good if not better than say the European Challenge Tour - are usual fatal to high-finish prospects.
Scott is sharing 55th place.
Gareth Maybin, the Ballyclare, Ulster player, who has made a lot of dollars from the Hooters Tour over the past two years, found, as he well know, that a par-72 in the third round cost him about 10 places in the standings.
Sharing the lead on 12-under-par 204 are Americans Martin Flores from Mansfield, Texas and Aaron Wright from Orlando, Florida.
Irishman Chris Devlin, now based at Birmingham, Alabama, is in third place, a shot behind the leaders.
