SECOND IRISH TOURNAMENT ON PGA
EUROPRO TOUR 2007 SCHEDULE
The PGA EuroPro Tour will stage a second tournament in Ireland in May when Roganstown Golf Club, situated in the Swords area close to Dublin Airport, hosts the inaugural Oceanico Group Irish Challenge from May 9 to 11.
Two pro-ams will be held on May 7 and 8 to allow the local members and businesses the chance to join the PGA EuroPro Tour players in action.
"We are delighted to announce a second tournament in Ireland," said PGA EuroPro Tour Operations Manager Dan Nickless.
"Ireland is renowned for the quality of its golf courses, and in Roganstown and Faithlegg our players will be competing at two of the very best.
Simon Burgess, Director of Oceanico Group, said:
"2007 is a landmark year for the Oceanico Group and our golf operations. Earlier in the year we purchased five of the golf courses in Vilamoura, making us Portugal's leading golf operator, and with our new sponsorship of PGA EuroPro tour events such as the Oceanico Group Irish Challenge we are committed to supporting and developing golf across Europe."
Each event on the PGA EuroPro Tour is played over 54 holes, with the top 50 plus ties going through to the third and final round.
Every tournament carries a minimum prize fund of £40,000, and the season will culminate in the Tour Championship with the top 50 players from the Order of Merit.
