IAN BRATTON TOP MONEY-WINNER

ON NORTH-EAST ALLIANCE

CIRCUIT FOR 2006-2007

Newburgh Golf Club professional Ian Bratton was the leading money-winner over the 2006-2007 North-east Alliance season with prize money amounting to £791.
Bratton, pictured right, had three outright wins - at Ballater on October 18, Buckpool on November 22 and at Craibstone on January 10. He also shared first place at McDonald Ellon, Edzell and Buckpool (January 24)
Murcar Links amateur Terry Mathieson – who received his prizes in the form of vouchers – was the only other player to win more than £700 from the 22-event circuit. Terry’s haul of vouchers was worth £730.
Terry had the best scratch score at Deeside on February 14 and Cruden Bay on March 7.
The positions were reversed in the Scratch Order of Merit with Mathieson coming out on top with an average score of 1.6 under the CSS of the day.
Bratton was runner-up with an average of 1.2 under CSS.
Auchmill Golf Club members topped the Handicap Classes 1 and 2 Order of Merit. John Nicolson, who plays off four, headed Class 1 with an average score of 0.9 under CSS while Paul Cornfield was best in Class 2 with an average of 0.8 over CSS, playing off 11 of a handicap.
