John Duff's  8th NE Alliance win - by five shots

at Spey Bay with a seven-under 63

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Newmachar tour pro John Duff made the most of perfect golfing conditions at Spey Bay Golf Club today (Wed) to win North-east Alliance fixture by five strokes with an excellent score of seven-under-par 63.
It was Duff's eighth win at the 18th meeting of the 2016-2017 campaign. It is believed to be a record individual total for one season - and there are still six competitions to go!
John headed a field of 66 players with a bag of eight birdies and one bogey in halves of 32 and 31. He birdied the fourth, seventh, ninth, 10th, 11th, 13th, 16th and 17th. His only bogey came at the 14th.
Peterculter Golf Club professional Ross McConnachie was runner-up with a 68 (35-33). He birdied the fourth, 11th and 15th with one bogey, at the ninth.
Cruden Bay amateur Ian Esslemont finished third with a one-under-par 69. Considering he was two over par after nine holes, that was not a bad effort.
