Blairgowrie to host golf day for Perth Saints'
past captain Dave Mackay
By GORDON BANNERMAN
THE Blairgowrie Golf Club has been selected to host a golf day as
part of a testimonial year being teed-up for former St Johnstone
captain Dave Mackay.
The Perthshire club is shortlisted for The Club of the Year accolade at the Scottish Golf Awards event in Edinburgh on February 24.
Blairgowrie captain Brian Wesencraft said: “We are delighted that the Dave Mackay testimonial committee has selected Blairgowrie to host such a prestigious golf day on May 22.
“I’m sure guests will enjoy their experience playing the Lansdowne championship course which was designed by Peter Alliss and the late Dave Thomas and they are assured of a warm welcome.
“Dave has gone down in St Johnstone history as the first club captain ever to lift the Scottish Cup and fully deserves this honour - even if our Dundee United supporting members might not like to be reminded of that day in May, 2014!”
