Hutcheon wins Carnegie Invitational for third

time - by three shots at Skibo Castle

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Greig Hutcheon  (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Inchmarlo) scored his third win in the £59,000 Carnegie Invitational at the Skibo Castle course today, a five-under-par total of 137 winning him the £6,000 first prize by three strokes.
Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle), Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) and Stephen Gray (Lanark) tied for second place on 140 and earned £4,000 each.
Hutcheon's previous wins in the lucrative tournament were achieved in 2007 and 2010.
Greig's final round started inauspiciously with bogeys at the first two holes but he snapped into title-winning gear with birdies at the long third, short fourth, long fifth and seventh to turn in 33 (two under par).
More birdies followed, at the short 13th, long 15th and 17th, and bogeys at the 16th and long 18th only reduced his winning margin.
Fox (72-68) had six birdies, including the 17th and 18th, in halves of 34 while Forsyth (67-73) ran up a double bogey 7 at the closing hole for 38 home.
Gray, the 2014 winner, had rounds of 71 and 69.
