Euan Moir Wins Lanarkshire county 

championship for fourth time

Euan Moir of host club Hamilton has won the Lanarkshire county championship for a fourth time.  Euan Moir, now 47, and runner-up Ronnie Maclean, aged 63, showed age is no barrier in golf by claiming the first two places. 

Euan, a former Scottish mid-amateur championship finalist and previously playing off +4,  plays only occasional golf these days with twin brother Michael but still holds a +1 handicap. 

Ronnie Maclean still holds a scratch handicap at Hamilton and Western Gailes and was left to rue a couple of late three putts, otherwise places might have been reversed. Sadly neiher can play in tonight’s match-play due to work commitments .

However, Jack Emerson of East Kilbride, a 15-year-old schoolboy, reversed the age gap by winning the handicap section with nett scores of  69 and 68.  

The Lanarkshire youth championship, played in conjunction with the main championship, was won by Dominic Dougan of Airdrie.
