Knox earns $75,636 for T22 finish at Baltusrol

98th US PGA Championship: Jimmy Walker celebrates 'surreal' victory at Baltusrol

Jimmy Walker is celebrating after securing a "surreal" first major win at the US PGA Championship at Baltusrol.
The 37-year-old American held off the challenge of defending champion Jason Day to win by a single stroke after a final-round 67.
Heading into his final 18 holes, Walker led Day by one and having parred every hole on the front nine, birdies at 10, 11 and 17 were enough to ensure he maintained that advantage, finishing on 14 under par.

"It's surreal. I mean, it really is," he said. "I would have said it would have happened the last couple years, the way I was playing.
"I just had not quite played as well as I would have liked to this year but I knew it was close. I felt some things were clicking last week.
"God, just to be in it and be there and have a chance and then to finish it off is just - it's so gratifying. Everything I've done up to this point, helped this happen."

Walker was made to work for the title until the last by Day. The Australian eagled the last, putting the pressure on Walker to make the par that would seal victory.
"It's an incredible finish, what Jason did, eagling the last hole, forcing me to make a five," he added. "It was huge. It was tough. It feels sweet. It's amazing.
"There was nothing easy about the day, really about the week, for that matter, especially coming down the last hole.
"I figured birdieing 17 was huge, and that was going to cap it off. And then Jason making eagle sure makes my job a lot harder on the last hole. So kudos to him. You wouldn't expect anything less from the best player in the world."
Englishmen Tyrrell Hatton and Paul Casey tied for 10th place on 273 with Irishman Padraig Harrington T13 on 274.
Scot Russell Knox and England's Justin Rose tied for 22nd place on 276. Knox's four rounds were 70-70-67-69. He earned $75,636.
