Calum
Scott (Nairn), 12-year-old brother of Nairn's rising teenage star Sandy
of that ilk, today became the youngest ever winner of the North
District boys' championship for the R P B Bain Trophy at Strathpeffer
Golf Club.
Calum,
who has 3 of a handicap, shot rounds of 74 and 70 for a total of 144 to
win the trophy, a silver medal and a voucher to the value of £65.
He won by a stroke from clubmate Logan Gillies (72-73 for 145) who won the bronze medal and a £50 voucher.
Lee Findlay (Orkney) finished third with 80-69 for 149 and earned a £40 voucher. His 69 was the lowest of the tournament.
Jamie MacKintosh (Nairn) was fourth with 74-75 for 149.
Jake Carpenter (Forres) came fifth on 150 (78-72). Thomas Bell (Forres) completed the top six with 80-74 for 154.
Fraser Owenson (Nairn) was third on 161 (80-81).
The
Under-16 handicap first prize was won by Grant Ross (Brora), pictured right, with a net
total of 144 (75-69). Danny Doogan (Golspie) was second on 144 (73-71).
Calum Daun (Inverness) also totalled 144 (71-73) but had the poorer
second round.
Nairn won the Emslie Shield with a gross total of 599 with Forres second with 632.
Nairn's winning team comprised L Gillies, C Scott, J MacKintosh and R Cromarty.
