ANGLO-SCOT RYAN LUMSDEN SLUMPS IN

 PORTUGAL'S FINAL ROUND

Anglo Ryan Lumsden (Royal Wimbledon), the only Scot to make it through to the third and final round of the Portuguese men's international amateur championship at Montado Golf Resort, Palmela on the Costa Azul, had a disappointing final round of seven-over-par 79 to finish joint 40th on four-over 220.
His earlier rounds of 68 and 73 had him in contention for a top-10 finish but it was not to be. He dropped shots to par at regular intervals and had a double bogey 7 at the 15th in halves of 38-41.
Winner of the prestigious title was Paolo Ferraris (Italy) with rounds of 70, 67 and 68 for 11-under-205.
He won by two shots from Denmark's Christoffer Bring.
Double European champion Ashley Chesters, in the front rank with 18 holes to go, could do no better than a closing 74 for 210 and joint sixth place.
The tournament was reduced to three rounds when fog delayed the start of play until 12.30 on Friday, when 40 or so players still had to complete their second rounds.
