PAUL LAWRIE WINS BY FIVE AT
BUCKPOOL WITH A 7-UNDER 63
Paul Lawrie scored his third win in four starts on the North-east Golfers' Alliance circuit this 2014-15 season - and he did it with an excellent round of seven-under-par 63 at Buckpool Golf club, Buckie today.
Paul was out in a bogey-free 30 with birdies at the third, fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth. He dropped his only shot of the day at the 10 but got back into his rhythm with birdies at the 11th, 13th and 16th.
First pro prize for heading a field of 85 was £130.
"I hit it very well tee to green and putted much better than I have been of late," said Paul.
"The course was excellent condition with back tees and summer greens. I've played some nice golf at Buckpool over the years and always really enjoy playing there."
Fraserburgh's Kris Nicol (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Newmachar amateur John Duff shared second place on 68. Both went out in 36 and back in 32.
Nicol had a double bogey at the seventh but covered the last 10 holes in four under par with birdies at the ninth, 10th, 12th and 18th.
Duff also struggled a bit over the outward half with bogeys at the fourth and seventh but birdies at the 12th, 17th and 18th gave him his usual high finish.
