ENGLAND LOSE IN OTHER TIE IN LINNA, FINLAND
SCOTS MEN BEATEN BY SPAIN IN
EUROPEAN MEN'S SEMI-FINAL
Saturday's European men's amateur golf championship final will feature Ireland, 5-2 conquerors of England, against Spain, who beat Scotland by a similar margin.
The writing was on the wall for the Scots at Linna, Finland when they lost the foursomes 2-0, Graeme Robertson and Jack McDonald going down only at the 19th after Grant Forrest and Bradley Neil had lost by 3 and 1.
Neil won the top singles tie by one hole but that was to be the Scots' only singles victory.
Robertson lost by 3 and 1 and Jamie Savage went down by 4 and 3.
That gave Spain an uncatchable 4pt and the ties invlvolving Forrest and Ross were declared halved matches as is the custom in European team championship.
