TAILGUNNER GRANT FORREST DELIVERS CLINCHING POINT

SCOTS THROUGH TO EUROPEAN MEN'S

TEAM SEMI-FINALS IN FINLAND

Scotland are through to a semi-final match against Spain in the European men's amateur team championship, thanks to tail-gunner Grant Forrest at Linna, Finland.
The Scots led 2-0 after the foursomes - Graeme Robertson ahd Jack McDonald winning their marathon tie at the 24th - and stretched their lead to 3-0 with a 4 and 3 victory by British amateur champion Bradley Neil in the top singles
But the Swedes hit back to win the ties against first Robertson and then James Ross.
Jamie Savage stopped the rot with a halved match but Forrest delivered the clinching point with a 3 and 2 victory in the final singles.

Ireland 4, Germany 3
Spain 4, France 3
SWEDEN 2 1/2, SCOTLAND 4 1/2
Foursomes - A Ostennson and N Linastrom lost to G Forres and B Neil 5 and 4; T Eden and H Ronneblad lost to G Robertson and J McDonald at 14th (0-2)
Singles  Ostensson lost to Neil 4 and 3, O Bergqvist bt Robertson 3 and 2, Ronneblad bt J Ross 2 and 1, Eden halved with Savage, V Tarnstrom lost to Forrest 3 and 2 (2 1/2-2 1/2)
