McBAIN (70) MAKES GOOD START AT 

CARRICK ON LOCH LOMOND

Greg McBain, making a rare appearance on the EuroPro Tour in this week's Motocaddy Masters at Carrick on Loch Lomond, marked the occasion with a one-under-par round of 70 - two birdies, one bogey - to be joint fourth in the huge field at the end of the first day.
McBain is two behind the leader, Neil Chaudhuri (England).
Other Scots with reasons to be cheerful included Neil Fenwick (Dunbar) joint seventh with a 71 and John Henry (Clydebank and District) with a 72 for a share of 14th place.
Two Scots who will take no part in the tournament are former Walker Cup player and past Northern Open champion Graham Rankin (Drumpellier) and Andrew Oldcorn (Kings Acre), a past PGA champion.
Rankin retired from the event after posting an 18-over-par round of 89 in which he had only three par figures in halves of 45 and 44. He had three double bogeys and one tripe bogey.
Oldcorn retired after only three rounds - bogey, double bogey, par .. finish. He may have been injured, he may have been feeling unwell.
