A GAME OF TWO HALVES FOR KNOX
Russell Knox, chasing a place in next week's Open had two eagles (3s at the second and sixth), three birdies (fifth, 10th and 12th) and a double-bogey 6 at the ninth (out in 33) to be the leader with six holes still to play in Round 2.
In contrast, Rory McIlroy bogeyed three holes in an outward 38 and dropped down the leaderboard as a result.
LATER NEWS
Knox required 41 shots for the inward half, posting a 74 and dropping out of the lead by a fair bit.

BALGOWNIE BITES BACK
The Florida-based man from Inverness, playing golf professionally in Scotland for the first time, was eight over par for his last six holes.
McIlroy did not fare any better. He had halves of 38-40 for a 78: 14 shots worse than his Day 1 leading score.
The Ulsterman bogeyed the 10th, had a double bogey 7 at the long 12th, and further bogeys at the 13th and 14th.
