WILLIAMWOOD PLAYER WINS VITAL POINT AT 19TH HOLE

BURNS A HERO AS SCOTS BOYS  

REACH EURO SEMI-FINALS

George Burns was the Scotland hero as he won the final match at the 19th to give the Scots a 4-3 win over Norway, the host nation, and a semi-final against Sweden in the European boys' team championship at Oslo Golf Club.
After the two foursomes were shared, Scotland had their backs to the wall when Murray Naysmith lost 5 and 4 and Robert MacIntyre went down 3 and 1 in the top two singles.
But the Scots hit back to level the match at 3-3 with a 2 and 1 win by British boys champion Ewen Ferguson and a 5 and 4 victory by Ben Kinsley.
Burns coped with the pressure admittiedly, winning the final match at the 19th.

NORWAY 3, SCOTLAND 4
Foursomes: J Arnoy and K Reitan lost to G Burns and C Fyfe 3 and 2; A Halvorsen and V Hovland bt E Ferguson and R MacIntyre 2 and 1 (1-1).
Singles: Hovland bt M Naysmith 5 and 4, Arnoy bt MacIntyre 3 and 1, O M Davanger lost to Ferguson 2 and 1, Reitan lost to B Kinsley 2 and 1, Halovorsen lost to Burns at 19th.
