GARETH SHAW WINS ATLANTIC
SUN CONFERENCE COLLEGE
TITLE FROM RHYS ENOCH

East Tennesee State University final-year student Gareth Shaw from Lisburn, Northern Ireland has won the Atlantic Sun Conference men's college golf championship. He totalled six-under--apr 210 over the par-72, 6735yd course at the Chateau Elane Resort's Woodlands Course with scores of 69, 67 and 74 to win by one shot from freshman team-mate Rhys Enoch from Cornwall.
Enoch scored 70, 71 and 70.
Shaw, pictured right, had an eagle and seven birdies over his first two rounds which lifted him clear of the field and gave him a cushion for an over-par final circuit.
Three other East Tennessee State players did not give Shaw and Enoch the close support that would have won the college the team title which went instead to North FloRida by a single shot.
Cian McNamara, a senior student from Limerick, shot 77, 71 and 74 for joint 17th place on 222.
Waterford's Seamus Power scorted 76, 82 and 72 for 228 and 26th place in a field of 50.
Former British boys' champion Jordan Findlay from Fraserburgh, Scotland came joint 39th on 234 with scores of 77, 78 and 79.
Findlay had a triple bogey and three double bogeys over the 54 holes. He had only three birdies in the three rounds.
