A FEW DOLLARS MORE FOR RUSSELL KNOX
ON FLORIDA WINTER SERIES TOUR

Florida-based Inverness exile Russell Knox boosted his total earnings to $14,377 in seven successive NGA Hooters Tour Winter Series events by finishing joint ninth in this week’s 54-hole tournament over a 7,029yd par-72 course at Deer Island Golf Club, Tavares in Florida.
Knox had rounds of 71, 71 and 68 for a six-under-par total of 210, which was seven shots behind the leader, and winner for the fourth time in two months, Jeff Corr from Longwood, Florida.
Corr finished three shots ahead of a field of 130 and picked up the $11,727 first prize with scores of 71, 64 and 68 for 13-under-par 203.
A double bogey 5 at the short 13th in his second round cost Knox a fistful of dollars on what is a highly competitive satellite circuit.
In his final round of 68, which lifted him up to a fourth top-10 finish – he’s also had two top-20 and one joint 22nd , Knox birdied the second, fifth, seventh, 14th, 15th and 17th and had bogeys at the 10th and 15th.
Russell, who stayed on in Florida and turned professional last year after completing four years on the American college golf circuit as a student at Jacksonville University and gaining a Scotland youth cap two years ago, is lying sixth in the NGA Hooters Tour Winter Series money table.
