CRAIG LEE GRABS EIGHT BIRDIES ON EURO
TOUR DEBUT IN SOUTH AFRICA

European Tour rookie Craig Lee from Stirling has hit the circuit running with a four-under-par 68 on his debut apperance in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Golf Club, South Africa today.
Lee had an astonishingly high number of birdies - eight in all (1st, 2nd, sixth, ninth, 10th, 12th, 13th and 15th - as well as four bogeys (seventh, eighth, 14th and 17th) in halves of 33 (two under par) and 35 (two under par).
Peter Whiteford from Kirkcaldy, who gained his European Tour spurs through the Challenge Tour and has been playing well Down Under, was quite happy with a solid 71 for a start.
David Drysdale and Alan McLean had 73 and 75 respectively.
Fading light ended the first day's play a shade too prematurely with the last two groups still to complete their rounds. They will go out first at 7.30am on Friday.
One of the later finishers was Ernie Els with a two-under 70. The South African is due a good tournament. This could be it on home soil.
Welshman Sion Bebb has a one-stroke overnight lead with a five-under-par 67.
