ABERDEEN'S MICHAEL SIM LEADS
AUSSIE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
WITH A 65

Aberdeen-born Michael Sim recaptured his pre-back injury form to shoot a seven-under-par 65 and lead the Australian PGA championship by one shot at the end of the first day at Hyatt Regency Coolum Resort Golf Club in Queensland.
Sim, 23, emigrated with his parents to Perth, Western Australia in the 1990s. Introduced to golf by his father George, a former member of Aberdeen Northern Golf Club, Michael proved a natural and rose to become the world's top ranked amateur (before Richie Ramsay did) and then turned professional in 2005.
Michael won a place on the 2007 US PGA Tour by finishing in the top 20 of the Nationwide Tour in 2006 but was diagnosed with a stress fracture of the lower spine last winter and was late in starting his rookie season on the US Tour.
