OLLY FIGHTS STIFF NECK TO STAY IN TOUCH
AT OMEGA EUROPEAN MASTERS

FROM THE AOL GOLF NEWS WEBSITE

England's Oliver Wilson remains in contention for a first tour victory in the Omega European Masters despite almost pulling out before the start of today's fog-delayed third round.
Wilson held a one-shot lead at the halfway stage in Crans-sur-Sierre, Switzerland but woke with a stiff neck and required an hour of physio treatment before starting play.
The former Walker Cup star was unable to swing the club properly but struggled to a 70 to finish the day on 12 under par 201, one shot behind defending champion Bradley Dredge and Australian Brett Rumford.
"I was really excited about today, I had a chance to build a lead and separate myself from the field but the injury really deflated me," the 26-year-old said.

"I could not hit my irons properly and hit some horrendous shots because I just couldn't get through the ball. Even when it didn't hurt I knew it was there and you can't commit to the shot.
"It got a little better later in the day but I was walking round very rigid all day. The physios worked on it for an hour but I still don't have full movement."
Wilson, who has had several chances to claim his maiden European Tour title - losing a play-off to Paul Casey in the Volvo China Open in November 2005 and another in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Thailand in March - added: "I'm actually quite pleased to still be in with a chance.
"I could have shot one or two over and been out of it."
Dredge won by eight shots here last year and threatened to go clear of the field once more when he eagled the opening hole for the second day in succession.
But the 2005 World Cup winner dropped shots at the fifth and ninth and ran up a double-bogey 6 on the 12th after driving into trees and, despite birdies on the 14th and 15th, was unable to shake off Rumford.
