LLOYD SALTMAN AND RHYS DAVIES LEAD OFF

Lloyd Saltman and Rhys Davies will lead off for Great Britain & Ireland in the first foursomes match of the 2007 Walker Cup against The United States as the home team attempts to regain the trophy after a narrow defeat in Chicago two years ago. In the top match they will play Billy Horshel and Rickie Fowler.
GB&I captain Colin Dalgleish resisted the temptation to throw his Irish pair in at the head of the field, keeping Rory McIlroy, winner of the Silver Medal in this year's Open Championship, and Jonathan Caldwell back for the second match.
But he has been second-guessed by US captain Buddy Marucci who held Colt Knost, winner of the US Amateur and Public Links Championships this season, and Dustin Johnson, for the second spot to set up a formidable match.
Third out for the home side are John Parry, winner of the 2007 Spanish Amateur, and David Horsey to face America's only experienced Walker Cup player, Trip Kuehne, and Kyle Stanley.
The anchor match in the foursomes is between Jamie Moul, leader of the World Amateur Golf Ranking for many weeks earlier in the season, and Daniel Willett, the English amateur title holder and American college circuit player as a Jacksonville State University student. They face Webb Simpson and Jonathan Moore.
Both captains have taken the chance to give every member of the 10-man teams an outing on the first day, including those omitted from the foursomes in the afternoon singles.
Davies, former Boys champion who played in this year's US Open, faces Johnson, a two-time winner on the US amateur circuit this season. Then comes Willett against Knost before Llewellyn Matthews, winner of the St Andrews Links Trophy plays Jamie Lovemark, the 2007 NCAA champion.
Nigel Edwards, a veteran of three previous Walker Cup encounters who holed the winning putt at Ganton in 2003, comes fresh from his morning rest to face Stanley, winner of the 2006 Southern Amateur.
Moul lines up against Chris Kirk, recepient of the Ben Hogan award as top college golfer of 2007 and the bottom of the draw places Horsey, fourth in this year's Brabazon, against Simpson, a semi-foinalist in the 2006 US Amateur.
A limited number of tickets will be available for spectators who turn up at Royal County Down on each day of the Walker Cup match.
Crowds have been limited to 10,000 each day and David Hill, Director of Championships for The R&A said: “There are still roughly 1,000 tickets left for each day and we will be allowing these spectators to pay at the gates.” Parking is free-of-charge and a daily admission ticket costs £25
