HUTCHEON WINS ANOTHER

PLAY-OFF TO TAKE WEST

Greig Hutcheon’s run of good form since the last day of the Gleneagles Scottish PGA championship in which he finished sixth continued today with his sixth Tartan Tour win of the season.
The Peterculter tour pro, pictured right, beat Chris Kelly (Cawder) with a birdie at the fifth hole of a sudden-death play-off after they had tied on seven-under-par 135 in the Volvo/Ayrshire Hospice 36-hole pro-am at West Kilbride Golf Club.
It was Hutcheon’s second play-off win in less than a week. He beat Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) in extra holes to win the Deer Park Masters last Wednesday.
Hutcheon closed with a three-under-par 68 with the most important of his six birdies coming at the last to match Kelly’s 135 total.
Kelly, who had an eagle in an outward 34, birdied the 16th and 18th for a 67.
Hutcheon, winner of the PGA Scottish Region Order of Merit last year, collected a first prize of £2,952.
For Kelly, the financial reward was £2,361.
Hutcheon and Kelly finished one stroke ahead of Dean Robertson (Mearns Castle) and Graeme McInnes (Murcar Links), the first-round leader at Gleneagles.

Robertson was officially placed third with a pair of 68s to earn £1,771 ahead of Graeme McInnes who also shot 68 in both rounds. For fourth place, he collected £1,326.
