NOW WALLACE WINS CAMERON CORBETT VASE BY SEVEN STROKES AT HAGGS CASTLE

Comrie's Wallace Booth followed up his five-shot win in the rain-shortened Tennant Cup at Glasgow Killermont a fortnight ago by returning to Glasgow this weekend to win the presitigious Cameron Corbett Vase by the runaway margin of seven strokes at Haggs Castle.

The Booth siblings seem to specialise in winning "out of the park." Younger sister Carly, only 15, won the recent Scottish Under-21 girls' open stroke-play championship by nine strokes at Auchterarder.
Wallace strung together rounds of 69, 66, 67 and 69 over the par-72 lay-out for a 17-under-par total of 217, scoring of a professional stanard.
Runner-up Ross Kellett from Colville Park, Motherwell was a distant runner-up on 278 but even that was 10 shots under par and something to be proud of.
Three players tied for third place on 279 - Paul Betty (Hayston), Robert McKnight (Kilmarnock Barassie) and Scott Henry (Cardross).
None of Scotland's European team championship squad of six could play, of course, because they were too busy beating England in the play-off for third place on Saturday at Western Gailes.
But Booth's performance was impressive nonetheless. You can only beat the players you are playing against, and the young man who has recently completed four years on the American college circuit as a student at Augusta State University - he graduated with a business management degree with honours - certainly did that.
Top of the class again - with honours.
