SCOTS OUT OF THE HUNT AT BOVEY CASTLE
IN PGA EUROPRO TOUR EVENT


The Scots trio of Paul Doherty, Alasdair Hay and Graham Gordon finished well down the field in the Bovey Castle Championship, the PGA EuroPro Tour event near Newton Abbot, Devon.
Former Scottish boys' match-play champion Doherty, based in South Wales, had three consecutive double bogeys in his second round and finished with scores of 71, 72 and 73 for a six-over-par total of 216, which earned him joint 32nd place and £282.
Anglo-Scot Hay from the Royal Winchester Club scored 70, 71 and 79 for 220 and a share of 42nd place. His pay cheque amounted to £232.
Former Scottish amateur champion Graham Gordon from Aberdeen got much worse every day, shotting 69, 74 and 79 for 222 to fill 48th place among the 50 qualifiers. Gordon started his final round with a double bogey 6 and it didn't get much better. He won £210.
Englishman Matthew Woods (Donnington Grove) won he £10,000 top prize with a 10-under-par total of 220 (70-65-65) by three shots from Irishman Colm Moriarty.
