McARTHUR SHOOTS SIX-UNDER-PAR 67
AFTER SIX-HOUR STORM DELAY

By MICHAEL GIBBONS
Press Officer, European Challenge Tour

Glasgow’s Andrew McArthur ignored a six hour weather delay to storm into third place at the European Challenge Tour’s Credit Suisse Challenge at Wylkihof Golf Club, Luterbach in Switzerland today.
After a thunder and lightning storm that brought torrential rain to the 7,202yd, par-73 course, McArthur, a 28-year-old former Scottish amateur champion from the Windyhill club and an American college circuit player for four years, returned a six-under-par 67.
Starting at the 10th, Andrew birdied the 10th, 11th, 14th and 18th to cover his first nine holes in four-under-par 33.
He carried on his excellent run with birfdies at the second and fourth before dropping his only stroke of the round at the sixth.
The Scot is only two shots behind clubhouse leaders Carlos del Moral of Spain and Argentina’s Julio Zapata.
Stranraer’s Euan Little is just one behind McArthur on five under-par 68 while Fifers Peter
Whiteford and George Murray carded respective first round scores of 69 and par 73 respectively.
Whiteford had a really good round going when he started at the 10th and birdied the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 15th and 16th. Six under par, he dropped his first shot at the 18th, to turn in five-under-par 32. Then he dropped another at the first and could not recapture the sparkle in covering his second nine holes in 37.
Half the field will complete their first rounds on Friday morning, including Scots
Jack Doherty, Scott Henderson, Jamie McLeary and Eric Ramsay.
