DOHERTY AND CAMPBELL LEADING SCOTS
IN PGA EUROPRO TOUR CARDRONA EVENT

Former Scottish boys' match-play champion Paul Doherty and Christopher Campbell from the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle were the leading Scottish player on the one-under-par 71 mark at the end of the first day's play in the PGA EuroPro Tour event which began at Cardona Hotel & Country Club, near Peebles today.
Doherty had birdies at the sixth, ninth, 13th and 18th but dropped shots at the seventh, 14th and 16th in halves of 35 and 36.
Late finisher Campbell was heading for a 69 after four birdies but then bogeyed the 16th and 18th for his 71.
Doherty and Campbell, in joint 11th position were both five shots off the cracking pace being set by 21-year-old Huddersfield player Christopher Hanson/
Chris Kelly and Neil Henderson (Glen) were joint 20th on the 72 mark. Henderson had a double bogey 6 at the 16th.
Mark Loftus (Cowglen) had a double bogey 5 at the short 11th in his 73.
