MARTIN LAIRD CARRIES ON GOOD WORK
ON US NATIONWIDE TOUR
Former Scottish youths champion Martin Laird continued his good form on the Nationwide Tour - the No 2 US men's pro circuit - with a four-under-par round of 66 to be sharing 12th place at the end of the first day in the Fort Smith Classic at Hardscrabble Country Club, Fort Smith in Arkansas.
Laird had a phenemenal start of six birdies in the first eight holes. He birdied the first four, bogeyed the fifth and then birdied the sixth and eight to be out in five-under-par 30.
Another birdie at the 11th got him as low as six under paqr but he bogeyed the 13th and 18th for 36 home and a 66.
Leader with a seven-under 63 was American Scott Gutswchewski.
