LAIRD MISSES ONLY SECOND CUT THIS SEASON
ON UNITED STATES NATIONWIDE TOUR
Former Scottish youth champion Martin Laird from Glasgow missed only his second cut in 11 starts on the US Nationwide Tour this season with scores of 74 and 70 for level par 144 in the Melwood Prince George's County Open at The Country Club at Woodmore, Mitchelville in Maryland.
Martin, seventh in the No 2 tour's money list with $124,270 from 10 events, had a double bogey 6 in his first round and that was to come back to haunt him.
At the end of the day, Laird had missed the cut by two strokes, i.e. those with two-under-par 144 totals and better qualified.
Three players led on nine-under-par 135 - South African Jaco Van Zyl with 70 and 65, and Americans Patrick Sheehan (69-66) and Peter Tomasul (68-67).
