FIGHTING FOTHERHAM IN JOINT
SIXTH PLACE WITH 69 IN
WELSH OPEN STROKE PLAY
Bryan Fotheringham from Forres, fighting to regain his place in the Scotland men's home international team - if not a place in the side for the European men's team championship at Western Gailes in early July - had a battling round of 69 in the first round of the Welsh open amateur stroke-play championship at Machynys Peninsula today.
That put Bryan, pictured right, in joint sixth place behind John Parry (Harrogate). Winner of the Spanish open amateur title earlier this year, the Yorkshireman the first-round leader with a 67.
