SCHWARTZEL WINS EUROPEAN TOUR
SHOT OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL

Charl Schwartzel’s stunning three iron approach to the 16th green in the final round of the Open de España at Centro Nacional de Golf, which paved the way for an eagle three that ultimately secured his second title on The European Tour, has been recognised as The European Tour Shot of the Month for April.
“There were some great tournaments and some wonderful golf played in April, so I am particularly delighted to have earned the panel’s vote for the Shot of the Month Award,” commented Schwartzel, whose previous European Tour victory came at the 2005 Dunhill Championship.
“I remember the shot clearly. I had the perfect yardage for my three iron and even though the shot was slightly into the wind, it felt the right club and I put a good swing on it. As soon as I hit it, I knew it was going to be good.”
Carlos Rodiles of Spain, winner of The 2006 European Tour Qualifying School, received the runner-up vote for his own brilliant approach to the 16th at Centro Nacional de Golf. Third place went to Richard Sterne for his magnificent chip-in at the 72nd hole of the Volvo China Open at Shanghai Silport Golf Club.
The European Tour Shot of the Month Award is presented to the Tour Member for the shot judged to be the most outstanding played during each calendar month on The European Tour International Schedule. The winners so far this year are Retief Goosen of South Africa (January), Mikko Ilonen of Finland (February) and Anton Haig of South Africa (March). The winning shots from each month are entered towards The European Tour Shot of the Year.
