JAMIESON IN DANGER OF MISSING OUT
ON HOOTERS TOUR PAY CHECK
Three late bogeys may have cost Glasgow’s Scott Jamieson a pay check this weekend in the NGA Hooters Tour’s Touchstone Energy Open at Brook Valley Counctry Club, Greenville in North Carolina.
Rookie Jamieson, who has done well on this US satellite circuit, bogeyed the 14th, 17th and 18th for a one-over-par 73 after birdieing three long holes, the second, sixth and 13th and also the par-4 ninth. He also had bogeys at two short holes, the third and eighth.
Jamieson is sharing 65th place with David Skinns from Lincoln – and only the leading 60 and ties in a huge field of 168 after 36 holes will qualify for the weekend’s 36 holes.
First prize is around $36,000.
Colin Speirs from Dunkeld needs an even bigger improvement than Jamieson if he is to survive after a double bogey 7 at the 13th in a 76 which put him in 116th place.
Ulsterman Gareth Maybin from Ballyclare, one of the leading players on the Hooters Tour over the past two years, is bang on the borderline in joint 44th place on par 72.
Joint leaders are Ben McClung – sounds like some Scottish forefathers there? – from Jacksonville, Florida and Matthew Borchert from Orlando on five-under-par 65.
