MAKE THE CUT IN THE CROWNE PLAZA
INVITATIONAL AT COLONIAL

Richie Ramsay was not going to make the halfway cut in the rain-delayed Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, this week's US PGA Tour event at the Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth in Texas.
They still have not completed the second round. Some 27 players have to g out first on Saturday morning to finish off their 36-hole totals. Only then will the halfway cut figure be finalised.
But the projected figure - and the computers are pretty good with their arithmetic - is that those with 36-hole totals of 139 (one under par) or better will make it.
Richie, playing 35 holes on Friday after only one hole on Thursday, scored a highly creditable 69 and 72 for a one-over-par aggregate of 141.
In his first round of one-under-par 69, Ramsay, the US amateur champion, had birdies at the third, sixth, 11th and 17th with bogeys at the ninth, 10th and 14th.
In his second round, the Royal Aberdeen member started at the 10th - and birdied it to move to two-under-par for the tournament. But that's as good as it got for Richie. He bogeyed the 12th to be one under par and then dropped another shot at the third and a final one at the fifth before parring the remainder for a 71.
Having played in two rounds of the Masters, this further outing on the US PGA Tour will have underlined for Richie, who is expected to turn pro after the Walker Cup match in September, just how high the standards are in America.
Tim Clark, with a bag of 14 birdies so far, is leading the "Colonial" field with rounds of 65 and 64 for 11-under-par 129.
