JAMIESON BLOWS TWO-SHOT
LEAD ON HOOTERS TOUR
IN PENNSYLVANIA

Scott Jamieson blew up in spectacular style when within sight of his first win as a rookie tour pro in the NGA Hooters Tour's Quicksilver Classic at Midway, Pennsylvania today (Sunday).
The Glasgow player, who turned pro last November after winning the Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit, led the US satellite tour event by two shots after rounds of 69, 64 and 68 for a 15-under-par tally of 201.
Favourite for the $33,566 first prize, Jamieson, pictured right, recovered in his final round from bogeys at the third and sixth with birdies at the seventh and 10th. Then it all came apart at the seams for the 23-year-old who spent four years on the American college circuit while on a golf scholarship at Augusta State University.
Scott bogeyed the 11th, crashed to a triple bogey 7 at the 12th and then, with his confidence shattered, he bogeyed the 14th, 15th and 17th for a horrendous inward half of six-over-par 42 ... simply suicide in tournament pro golf.
Jamieson finished with a 79 for an eight-under-par total of 280 - still a good effort but a tragedy compared with his position at the start of the final day.
He had 19 birdies over his first three superlarive rounds. Scott could muster only two birdies in the final round. He collected around $5,000 for a joint eighth finish. Let's remember Scott is a rookie. He's on a learning curve. This sweet-bitter performance will give him vital experience.
David Skinns from Lincoln slipped past the faltering Jamieson into joint fifth place on 279 even though he had a final one-over-par round of 73.
Even the title-holder, Ulsterman Gareth Maybin from Ballyclare had a bad final round of 77 for 284 and joint 17th place.
Colin Speirs from Dunkeld, like Jamieson, Skinns and Maybin, a graduate from the American college circuit, made a NGA Hooters Tour cut for the first time this season and then had a worse closing round than Jamieson - an 81 for 293 which saw him plummet from 20th to joint 51st place.
The $33,566 first prize went to Tommy Biershenk from South Carolina. He shot 66, 68, 73 and 68 for a 13-under-par total of 275. That was matched by Martin Flores from Texas with 68, 65, 72 and 70.
Biershenk won the sudden-death play-off at the second hole when Flores went out of bounds.

FINAL TOTALS
275 Tommy Biershenk (US) 66 68 73 68, Martin Flores (US) 68 65 72 70 (Biershenk won play-off at second extra hole.
