SALTMAN SMASHES ROYAL DUBLIN
RECORD TO LEAD BY TWO IN
IRISH OPEN STROKE-PLAY

Lloyd Saltman was poised to make it four in a row when he shaved three shots off the Royal Dublin Golf Club course set with a brilliant score of six-under-par 66 in the third round of the Irish men's open amateur stroke-play championship today.
With one round to go the Craigielaw star had shot two strokes clear on 215.
US amateur champion Richie Ramsay (Royal Aberdeen), winner of the Irish title in 205 and joint halfway leader this weekend, had a sad 79 in the third round and slumped back to 224.
Saltman has won three 72-hole opens over the past five weeks, starting with the Scottish champion of champions' tournament at Leven, followed by the Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh and, last weekend, the big one - the Lytham Trophy.
In each of the previous three, the Scot made all the running. This weekend he has underlined that he can also win from behind. You can't keep a good man down. And, at the moment, they don't got any better than Lloyd Saltman.
