Hooters Tour victory within Scot's grasp


JAMIESON NOW LEADS BY
TWO IN US CHASE FOR
$33,500 PRIZE

Scott Jamieson maybe a rookie tour pro but he seems to be revelling in being in contention for his first professional victory and a $33,500 first prize.
Today, the Cathkin Braes Golf Club, Glasgow member fired a four-under par 68 in the third round of the NGA Hooters Tour's Quicksilver Classic over the 7,083yd, par-72yard course at Quicksilver Golf Club, Midway in Pennsylvania.
Jamieson, who turned pro last November after topping the Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit, is now clear of the field at 15-under par 201 with one round to play.
The former Augusta State University team player for four years on the US college circuit holds a two-stroke lead over Martin Catalioto (Hilton Head, South Carolina). Catalioto, a Clemson University grad, fired a six-under par 66 today to move from seven-under par at the start of the day to 13-under par 203.
2003 US Amateur runner-up Casey Wittenberg (Memphis, Tennessee) and second round co-leader Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) are tied for third place at 11-under par 205. Wittenberg matched the low round of the day with 65, while Flores had an even par 72.
The total purse for the Quicksilver Classic is $200,000 with $33,566 going to the winner.
David Skinns from Lincoln is in fifth place on 206 with scores of 70, 67 and 69.
Last year's winner, Gareth Maybin from Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, starts the final round in joint seventh place with scores of 68, 70 and 69 for 207.
Colin Speirs from Dunkeld is sharing 20th place on four-under-par 212 with rounds of 71, 73 and 68.
