Overnight round-up from United States pro tournaments
TOUR EVENT AT HILTON HEAD
ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA
United States amateur champion Richie Ramsay from Aberdeen moved on from missing the cut in the Masters last week to score a three-over-par 75 yesterday in the $5,400,000 Verizon Heritage tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
The Aberdonian, pictured right, made an excellent start with a birdie at the first but he dropped shots a the third, fifth, sixth and seventh to turn in three-over-par 39.
A birdie at the 12th got him back to two over par but he bogeyed the 13th and 14th in an inward 36 to be lying joint 105th in a field of 130.
At the top of the leaderboard is American Jerry Kelly with a nine-under-par 63, two shots ahead of Ernie Els.
Usually the winner of the Masters misses the "Heritage" but not so with last week's hero, Zach Johnson. He shot a one-under-par 70 to be sharing 20th place.
Richie Ramsay, of course, won't be able to win any of that huge prize fund - he is still an amateur.
