Overnight United States college round-up

LAST-ROUND DOUBLE BOGEYS FOR JORDAN

Fraserburgh’s Jordan Findlay (East Tennessee State University) finished joint 62nd in a field of 76 after a disappointing final round of nine-over-par 81 for a total of 234 in the United States Collegiate championship at the Golf Club of Georgia, Alpharetta.
Findlay had birdies at the first, second and fourth but had double-bogey 5s at both the short third and sixth holes in halves of 40 and 41.
Walker Cup player Rhys Davies, a team-mate of Findlay’s finished joint eighth on 221 even though he including a double-bogey 6 at the fourth in compiling a six-birdie final round of 72.
Webb Simpson (Wake Forest) was the individual winner by three strokes with 72, 72 and 71 for one-under-par 215.

KATE 22nd IN BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP


Kate O’Sullivan (High Point University) from Paisley finished 22nd in a field of 40 for the Big South Women’s Championship college tournament at Coosaw Creek Golf Club, Charleston in South Carolina.
Kate had scores of 86, 81 and 76 for a total of 243.
Kate’s Irish team-mate AnnMarie Dalton tied for sixth place on 231 with scores of 81, 73 and 77.
Olivia Higgings (Charleston Southern) from the Channel Islands came ninth on 232 with 80, 75 and 77 for 232.
A third High Point student, Jenna Kinnear from Belfast, scored 85, 86 and 86 for 257.
Jill Stupianski (Birmingham Southern Universty) won by six strokes with scores of 76, 70 and 72 for 218.

LUCY FINISHES SIXTH IN NORTH CAROLINA

Former Welsh girls champion Lucy Gould (East Tennessee State) finished sixth in the Atlantic Sun Women’s Conference Championship over the Keith Hills No 1 course at Buies Creek, North Carolina.
Lucy scored 77, 76 and 77 for a total of 230 over the par-72, 6,012yd course. Team-mate and Irish international Sinead O'Sullivan finished joint 23rd in the final of 40 with scores of 80, 82 and 78 for 240.
Alejandra Shaw (Campbell University) won by the staggering margin of 14 strokes with scores of 73, 69 and 70 for four-under-par 212.
